Hello meph.
It is a well known fact that a blunderbuss/shotgun , loaded with silver sixpences is a remedy against all sorts of supernatural nasties .
I keep 4 12 bore shells loaded with silver sixpences all the time.
you never know when u might need them.
I believe that the first document historical use of a gun loaded with silver sixpences comes from some of the early works of Lord Bulwer Lytton, although the name of the tome escapes me at the moment.
quite handy against the odd werewolf as well apparently-lol .

hello again.
The faith issue is quite easily resolved on the issue of exorcism.
ANY PRACTICING FAITHFUL CHRISTIAN(of any denomination) IS EMPOWERED BY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TO CAST OUT UNCLEAN SPIRITS, BY CALLING ON THE NAME OF GOD AND OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST AND CASTING OUT THE UNCLEAN SPIRIT IN HIS NAME , USING THE AUTHORITY GIVEN TO THEM BY THE NAME OF ALMIGHTY GOD THE CREATOR TO DO SO.
You do not have to be a minister of the church to cast out spirits.
Please could you also clear up the knotty question of how to exorcise an African vampire , or indeed an Indian vampire, or for that matter a chinese vampire.
I fear christian symbolism may have little effect against creatures that neither recognise or believe in christian doctrine.
You may find a book called THE NATURAL HISTORY OF THE VAMPIRE ( various contributors) useful and indeed invaluable.
P.S i do not consider my opinion superior by a long chalk, and as you can see by my previous posts , i neither mock nor de-value other people opinions and indeed take notice and try to learn from other peoples genuine experience.

hi dr.ed,no matter what country a vampire is found in,it will be dealt with in the christian manner of exorcism, for all vampires are demonic entities, fallen angels, and all know perfectly well who their creator is,and all acknowlege jesus christ,as i have already confessed,i do not know the lutheran doctrine, but surely an ordained minister would understand about the demonic realm. The only time ive heard of a shotgun loaded with silver sixpences being employed,is in the case of a haunted building in berkeley square, london,in the 19th century by a rather naive, would be ghost hunter who fired at a black mass that was approaching him,but as to this day there are still reputed hauntings there.I cant picture +bishop manchester sporting two six-shooters on his hips and blazing away at the first shadow he sees can you?,i have had many paranormal experiences whilst investigating, but have never resorted to weapons as you would see in buffy. happy hunting, oak carver.

Oakie is right. Demons are enemies of Jesus Christ and it is through the power of Christ that they are exorcised, whether you believe it or not and whether you like it or not. GOD WILL NOT BE MOCKED and for a Christian to employ Buddhist or Hindu methods is worse than heresy. Even if a demon is driven out by a heathen clergyman it is Christ Himself who is really the exorcist.
Now as to the blind faith issue: It all boils down to what you put your faith in, is it the traditional cross and stake; the bell, book, and candle; the RITUALE ROMANUM PAULI V PONTIFICIS MAXIMI; or is it science, especially empirical science. It seems, Dr. X, that you want to be a combination of Western sodbusting and range riding cowboy and Ghost Buster. It seems that is the case.
Since Bps. Summers and Manchester advise the use of the TRIED AND PROVEN (empirical) method of exorcism, staking, and cremation of the vampire it seems that their support for this lies with centuries of empirical observation that it works!
Using ghost buster methods has never proven anything yet, and likely will only result in the infection of the wannabe vampire hunter by the undead. What, pray tell, are you going to do when you encounter, cage your nosferatu, and then find it has broken free of its bonds and at your jugular? I would much rather take my chances with Bishop Manchester and his friends than with your untried and unproven "science".

I would however like to thank and congratulate Dr. X for his fine researach into the identity of the Highgate Vampire. He has truly done a commendable job of that. Perhaps one of the candidates he has put forward is the bodily identity of the Highgate Vampire.
But remember that all vampires have TWO identities; the identity of the one time living person whose dead shell is now the abode of the demon, and the demon itself. In exorcism rituals the exorcist always tries to get the demon to identify itself and that by so doing it can be more readily controlled and commanded by the exorcist, who, the same as at the altar is performing IN PERSONA CHRISTI. The danger at Highgate and probably any place contaminated by a vampire, even after successful exorcism, is the likelihood that the possessing demon will try to posses another person, living or dead, just to escape the hellish existence it is condemned to. The demonic identity at Highgate will probably never be resolved even if the bodily part is. __________________________ Memphremagog. In te Domine speravi.

Even as an ordained minister and paranormal investigator , i must remain open to all possibilities and will continue to rely on a mixture of religious and scientific equipment ( as both oakcarver and mephremagog are doing by answering these posts).
Please by all means try to exorcise a demonic entity that does not recognise the lord our god and his son jesus christ our saviour- he who died so that we may be shriven of our sin.
I think that you will be in for a shock.
As i have stated in other posts, de-gaussing equipment has been succesfully used on two occasions , and i am currently working on a much better unit. THE TECHNOLOGY NOW WORKS GENTLEMAN, AND I HAVE THE DATA TO PROVE IT.
Oh and for the record , the entity at Berkely Square was halted by the blast from the gun(silver sixpences again) ( another case of the effective use of technololgy-used with belief).
Vampires are aware of and indeed use technology to widen their web of filth and we as investigators/hunters must use all the technology available to us ( as i have said in previous posts).
For the record , none of the equipment i use looks anything like the equipment used in buffy the vampire slayer and i find that quite an insult.
The de-gaussing cannon only slightly resembles a ghostbuster back pack, but apart from being used on spirit entities , it also does a good job erasing old recording and video tapes( watch those cash cards-lol).
i must say i find both mepremagogs and oakcarvers attitude quite insulting , bearing in mind that we were discussing the identity of the highgate vampire , and as i have stated in previous posts , i think it is time to GET BACK ON TOPIC .
Dont be scared of technology. without it we would all be living a cold and miserable existence in caves , with no fire or clothing to warm us , possibly still cannibalising our nearest and dearest .
And without books , not being able to spread the gospel of our lord jesus christ and his blessed father to whom we must all be thankful for the gift of reasonong he gave us , to lift us up from our bellies and bask in the light of his love.
Sweet dreams.

Hey memph, you couldnt lend me an air pistol or catapult could you?,only im sure i saw a vampire fly over the house last night and thought id take a few potshots at it!.Only gesting, how on earth could anyone consider trying to catch a demon in any form?,we are talking about a fallen angel,if dr.ed would only read and believe his bible about what we are up against here, angels have destroyed cities! back in biblical times, does dr.ed really think he can get a fallen angel in a headlock and push him into a cage?,Im starting to believe that dr.ed is pulling our legs,i think he is just having a laugh with us,its ok,i can take a joke, but this is really a serious topic,so lets get back to being sensible, oak carver.

Hi dr.ed, If jesus didnt use technology in casting out demons, and yet gives us the authority to cast out demons in his name, why would you an ordained minister who must have studied the bible well, ignore jesus gift to cast them out,and employ your own methods?,thats almost like saying jesus ways arent good enough for you,you need better!.Yes i agree that there are some very powerful vacuum-cleaners out now, that one can use for a number of things, but not for hoovering up vampires!,as for a shotgun of sixpences,it could do serious damage to a human being or animal but it wont get rid of something from the spirit world, that would be as effective as shooting at your own shadow. If you still wish to persist chasing demons using technology that of course is your choice entirely, but do yourself a favour and discuss your methods personally with +bishop manchester who still is the upmost authority on vampire hunting and a proffessional experienced exorcist.oak carver.

Hello again for the last time.
It is obvious to me that this discussion has merely degenerated into a playground squabble.
It seems my carver is taking things that i say completely out of context and merely tossing them into the melting pot again for the sake of it.
I BELIEVE I HAVE MADE MY POSITION CLEAR ON ALL MATTERS IN MY PREVIOUS POSTS.
I have never taken anything out of context be it a biblical quotation or a posting as i believe that doing so is very dangerous.
I REFER ALL READERS TO MY PREVIOUS POSTINGS YET AGAIN-PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING OUT OF CONTEXT -MERELY VIEW AS A WHOLE.
But before i go i will now reveal WHO THE HIGHGATE VAMPIRE WAS . This has taken over 19 YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH INTO THE SUBJECT.
The highgate vampire was a polish lancer in pancierni's cossacks(a polish cavalry unit) in 1789.( first record of him)
After finishing his service with the polish king , he used his cash payout on leaving the service to emigrate to england on a small packet ship which landed in southampton in 1815( NAME IN SHIPS LOG ).
He moved to highgate in 1840- into rented accomodation ( RENT RECORDS IN MY POSSESSION)
He was watched by the authorites as there were some strange dissaperances in the area and being foreign he was under suspicion anyway.
By the year of our lord 1900( which makes him over 100 years old by now) the fledgling metropolitan police service had him uner observation for the whitechapel murders(ripper murders)-( DOCUMENTATION STILL EXISTS)
After 1919 there is no more record of him although the rent on the house was paid by a mysterious benefactor up until the year 1968.
The vampires name is TOMOS M OPED.
I HAVE THE DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE IT.
good bye for good and sweet dreams.

And if you believe that, youll believe anything!,for many years i have studied the ripper case,i know who the killer/killers were, and it was not a one hundred year old soldier from the napoleonic period, the met police never had suscpicions of a decrepid old timer like that. This sounds like the sort of story a certain mr.p-p- would come up with.So the highgate vampire was also jack the ripper and before that he was a soldier of the napoleonic period?,and now after coming up with that cracker,dr.ed x,an ordained minister has signed off saying goodbye until the world needs him again.I sometimes think one has to be a +bishop to keep ones sanity in this day and age, what with this story and white angel dove2003,it leaves my head in a spin, what say you?regards oakcarver.

Incidently, the met police were not looking for anyone by the year 1900 in regards to the ripper case, especially by the name thomas moped!,I think i need a lie down after hearing that, ive come over all uneccessary! ! !,oak carver.

Tommie Moped!?!?!?!?!? This sounds like something from Monty Python's Flying Circus! A Moped is a tiny motorized bike. I myself prefer the All American Hog- the Harley Davidson, to a tiny tinny little Moped! Now we have vampires riding around London on scooter bikes. My gawd that is hilarious!
So now Oakie, lets you and me hop on a couple of Harley's and go after these wimpy vamps! Whaddya say man!
That does remind me of an episode of, I can't remember if it was on "Buffy" or the spin off "Angel", when Angel had to ride a motorcycle wearing a pink helmet!!! Here we have a macho, mean, and nasty vampire reduced to donning a girl's pink helmet while riding on a motorcycle. It was a funny episode. I just didn't know that Dr. X was the script writer!
But getting serious here finally is important too. I just can not believe that Dr. X is serious. Like Oak Carver I prefer to think that he is just telling a tall tale with his tongue firmly planted in his cheek. If that is true then thanks a million for a fun ride, Dr. X! _________________________ Memphremagog. In te Domine speravi.

Now to get back to serious business here. I originally started this thread because I thought that there might possibly be an outside chance of identifying the man who eventually became known as the Highgate Vampire. I thought it might be interesting to know who he might have been in life prior to his expiry into death and vampirism. Why did I wish to know this? Curiosity, that is all. We have all heard the saying "curiosity killed the cat", but I could see no danger here since the monster was destroyed almost four decades ago. Oak Carver and Dr. X have been helpful in this ongoing search. But I think it is likely that we will never know for certain who the Highgate Vampire really was. I intended for this thread to be a serious one. Dr. X accused Oak Carver and myself of degenerating this thread but actually it degenerated only after Dr. X's rather unorthodox proposals came to light.
Now here is the heart of the matter. Bishop Sean Manchester has repeatedly over and over again stated the extreme danger and folly of amateur vampire hunting, and that is exactly what Dr. X has proposed. If one were to employ his methods in capturing, but not destroying a vampire, one would become a victim of the basilisk he is attempting to control! Bp. Manchester is speaking from first hand experience as the president of the Vampire Research Society which has gotten rid of more vampires than just the one in Highgate. Always the same methods, those written of much earlier by Dr. Johann Flickinger, Dom Augustin Calmet, and Bp. Montague Summers, and now by Bp. Manchester, have been the only ones that work effectively to rid the earth of this horror! Any significant deviation from this and there is apt to be trouble.
Bishop Manchester stated that the Highgate Vampire first showed up shortly after the infamous vampire plague of the early 1700's, the same era as Arnold Paole and Peter Plogojowitz. He further stated that an Eastern European nobleman rented the Ashurst Estate in the early 18th century. This all seems to make sense, and, it seems that Tamas Orszag is the most likely candidate for the identity of the Highgate Vampire. But it is by no means certain. I wish to thank Katrina Garforth-Bles for providing the name of Tamas Orszag as the name on the rental lease of the Ashurst mansion early in the 1700's. I also with to thank Oak Carver for his moral and intellectual support here in this thread. I think Dr. Edward X has provided several ongoing alternate identities as well, and I thank him for his diligence in that as well. But I just simply have to disagree with Dr. Edward X on his methods, we must simply agree to amicably disagree, that is all. _______________________ Memphremagog. In te Domine speravi.

Dear freinds.
I have been reading your postings for many weeks now and have been finding them informative and entertaining.
Maybe we should look for things under the stone.
In my home country of Finland we have legends of a similar creature like a vampire that attacks both children and reindeer and drinks the blood. This is part of our Hyvaa Youloua or Christmas legends.
I have been thinking for a long time now that every country in the world must have similar or same legends.
Who is the most likely to be the vampire of Highgate as i will have to visit London to see the horror of the graveyard for myself and hopefully look into the tombs to see anything strange.
I have seen the name Charles Edward Wace on the tomb face so i will be having a look soon as it is in the photographs.

Greetings juusi,do you have a name for this creature in finland and a description?as it would be of interest to the members here.Yes there does seem to be a similar creature recorded in most countries,in +bishop manchesters :-the vampire hunters handbook, which i highly reccomend,it gives coverage of the history of the vampire recorded in ancient civilizations and they seem to have been here from the very beginning, which is understandable considering demons and satan have been here as long as us.As yet,i have not visited highgate cemetery,i hope to this summer. This tomb you mention with the name CHARLES EDWARD WACE where have you seen this?and what photos do you have?,sorry for all the questions but all contributions to this and the other +bishop manchesters forums are beneficial to the study of these topics, regards, oak carver.
