I was in highgate last week.and was going to go on the tour of the west cemetery. I was told..plus also read the notice.saying " no bare shoulders"
No whats that about ? it seems there are more and more restrictions added to this notice every time we look at it...who makes these rules up..
We live in england as far as im aware.I could understand if it were a muslim country.where I would expect to go around covered. but why here.and why does'nt the same rule apply to the opposite cemetery ?
I was'nt questioned about my sun top that exposed my shoulders on payin the entrance fee of 3 pounds at the gate of the cametery on the other side of the road.
just slightly peeved by all this.
Also how does this place cost £1000 pounds a day to run ?? in any ones book thats a heck of alot of dosh..£365.000 a year !!!
what creates all this expense ?

Friends of Highgate Cemetery (FoHC) are in charge and have been since the mid-1970s. They are the best people to enquire about the rules and running costs of the graveyard.
Though I am a little surprised to learn about bare shoulders being banned, especially in view of some of the odd sights I have witnessed parading around the Western Cemetery at various times in the past.
