Hello Vampirologist,
I don't know whether you'll be able to answer this question, but here goes...
I enjoyed reading 'The Highgate Vampire.' However, Rev Manchester didn't answer (perhaps he could not) the reason why Elizabeth, one of the girls who reported the original strange sighting, was reluctant to speak to Rev Manchester later, after the vampire had been dealt with. It would have been great if she had commented. What was the reason she gave for not contributing her comments when she was older?
Love, Patsy.

I am unaware that Elizabeth was "reluctant to speak to [the Rt] Rev Manchester." Where did you get that impression? Can you quote the precise passage?
The reason Elizabeth did not contribute to debates held on television decades later is, like many others, she had moved on and could not be contacted because her whereabouts were not known. Her then boyfriend, Keith, did contribute because he remained in touch with Bishop Manchester throughout the following decades. He, too, lost all contact with Elizabeth after their relationship came to an end.
Like many people who suffer a nightmare experience, it is perfectly understandable why someone would not want to be reminded of it over and over again. However, we do not know whether that is the case with Elizabeth who might now be living abroad.

I have just found the passage in The Highgate Vampire to which Patsy refers:
"I made an appeal for Elizabeth to make contact, before a studio audience [on Central Weekend Television] which included Keith. ... My request to the viewing audience for Elizabeth to come forward, however, met with no response and I have still not heard from her."
These words (found on page 151) do not suggest that Elizabeth was reluctant to speak to Bishop Manchester. They suggest that she was not part of the viewing audience and was unaware of the television transmission. If someone later mentioned the programme to her she would have needed all manner of details to have made contact; whereas on the evening itself a telephone contact number inviting viewers' comments was screened.

Hello Vampirologist,
Thank you for clarifying that point. I didn't have a copy fo the book to hand when I asked the question, and I remembered that Rev Manchester did make an appeal for Elizabeth to get in touch, but she never did. I thought that she was reluctant to do so, but she may well have not seen the programme.
Thank you for clearing that up!
Love, Patsy.
